Chris Neff
Vice President
As an elected public official to the Fairview Area
Schools' Board, I'm to serve the public's interests concerning the
education and the delivery of that education for our youth.
Currently, I serve as the
Vice President of the board.
Some of the tasks the board must perform include
analyzing data, understanding the budget process, state funding,
educational mandates, and making sure that our school can offer the
best curriculum possible within the budget. At this time,
these decisions are very difficult given the economic climate of the
state and school funding shortages. Striking a balance for
staff, students, and community can be very difficult to accomplish
and is always a team approach and decision are made through informed
consensus.
The technology available to students and staff is
extremely helpful in the delivery of classes to students via the
NovaNET program, as well as delivering knowledge and extending the
classroom experience for students. ITV offerings make it
possible for students to take classes that aren't available on
campus. In addition, a cooperative arrangement with Kirtland
Community College allows students to dual enroll and gain college
credit during their high school years. The media centers
greatly enhance the classroom and provide needed resources for
student research along with classroom support for teachers. In
addition, the media centers promote a positive message about the
importance of reading, a skill all students must have to be
successful.
Fairview Area Schools are fortunate to have a staff
that is dedicated and resourceful in the delivery of education to
its students. Students are known by name and teachers care
about who they are as a person along with their academic progress.
